Toronto is depressingly cloudy, cold and lonely this summer. Really thought I’d be on vacation somewhere but as you know, sometimes shit happens! So, I’m dreaming of new places and new adventures, this particular one just so happens to be the preferred vacation spot of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. No big deal. I could really picture my Eurotrash self lounging by the pool of the Amangiri resort in the middle of the desert, having tea by a private fire and yoga along the mountains. Who will join me?

Give me a girl on the Amalfi coast with a kaftan and leather sandals, sunshine, and we’re back at Eurotrash’s birth. How many summers I spent in colourful bikinis and handmade sandals in the Medi (mediterranean) – yachts, boys and Dolce & Gabbana. Well, Columbine Smille, Swedish fashion editor of StyleBy magazine and freelance stylist had me at Praiano (arguably the most beautiful place on earth). Her high cheekbones and long legs double-take Kate Moss but she’s really quite more inventive. Sky blue chucks, plaid undertones and a dash of skin. Her street style is a breath of fresh air as she wiggles her way between glam and trash, minimal and excess. I’m taking cues from her for Fall, especially the knit sweater dress showing fresh fresh legs all the way to the top and mirrored sunnies. Work. It. Girl. Read the rest of this entry »
Shopping in Italy, or on holiday in general, always lends me a certain figment of wealth. All of a sudden 100 euros becomes the yardstick for all purchases. Those green bills go marching one by one; hoorah, hoorah. Today’s style pilgrimage lead us to Stefanel in Sora, (FR). Italian, simple luxury brand that specializes in cashmere and knitwear, and a favourite of The Blonde Salad (see her post celebrating Fashion’s Night Out at their Florence store). I almost bought the cardigan dress she’s wearing in the pics but opted for a houndstooth boyfriend pant with matching grey hoodie. It’s sporty luxe love all over again! Definitely a fashion week outfit I plan on pairing with my Sauvage ankle boots and red, red lips!
In Genevieve Antoine Dariaux’s A Guide to Elegance she writes under the “Travel” heading:
“If you consider that when you are far away from home and surrounded by strangers, you are judged entirely on the strength of your external appearance, perhaps you will realize the importance of being flawlessly well-dressed whenever you travel.”
This should stop anyone in their tracks when choosing the utilitarian approach to packing, unless of course, the clothes are being used to make you look absolutely fabulous whilst abroad.
Working straight from nine-to-five like one of those normal people didn’t stop me from keeping a promise. A promise to fuck off with friends on May 2-4. Like that beat up pair of Havaianas, I’m glad I kept it. We drank in parks, and then drank in more parks. Went for poutine both sober and drunk. Never even saw the old port or riot-ridden downtown. It was like May 1968 as we drove into the city on the eve of laws being passed to make it OK for riot police to beat the shit out of students. Red squares everywhere. Karaoke nights and so many goddamn inside jokes about peg legs, tv shows, and the Rhythm of the Night. Amazing.
I wore a pair of cut-off jeans I made and a silk dress I bought at Shoppalu.com – perfection.
