The possibilities are endless. Nighttime reveals latent dreams of couture and high heels. In my mind, it’s the spark of excitement – dressing up to go out like a transformation from monotony to fantastic. I asked myself who I wanted to be that night. A lady with lots of secrets. A leather dress that stuck like a second skin. A disguise. A reprise, even. For I’ve been here before, acting out a venomous slither of long legs and black lashes through the night.
Or should I say, Caroline Sieber von Westenholz? Her recent wedding was featured in the September 2013 issue of Vogue as The Wedding of the Year – look out, Klout score! She is formally referred to as a Chanel brand ambassador and Karl, himself, made her wedding dress. Of course, Laetitia Crahay had a hand at the veil and so on and so forth. Privilege at its apogee. Seriously, I’ve been following her on instagram for a few months now and it’s all St. Tropez to me.
She lives in a castle and dresses as though she had every runway collection at her fingertips. All her clothes look brand new, too. Poppin’ tags. (Never mind tags I swear she drinks champagne for breakfast). Her life is most assuredly a charmed one. Picking street style proved difficult, however, because Caroline sometimes looks too affected, as though the clothes were laid out for her the night before by a Chanel-bot. I tried to select the few outfits that have a bit more movement to them. Something common folk might aspire to, if not dare to imitate whilst feeling ballsy one afternoon in a couture daydream. Dufferin Mall, really. After attending the Dufferin Mall Really Runway event a few weeks ago at Locus 144 in Liberty Village, I wanted to share all their fashion secrets with my readers. From mod girls to flirty office-appropriate options, I was thoroughly impressed with the Spring offerings. The outfits were put together pairing seasonal trends with smart shopping – most of the items rang in under $100! Meaning, you can update your wardrobe without selling a kidney. The best part? (Well, other than peddling your organs). Everything is available at Dufferin Mall. So, to get you started off in the right direction, I’m giving one lucky reader a super-stocked swag bag courtesy of Dufferin Mall. In there you’ll find gift certificates, accessories, and makeup to make your next trip to Dufferin Mall all the better. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the post to enter!
Every now and then, I grace my readers with a poorly taken photograph from instagram using my iPhone. We can’t all be Leandra Medine! So, here’s what I wore just last week on a casual Friday evening in Yorkville – not my favourite place but hey, it was hot enough to stand the usual douche-bag protocol one must adopt if you want to fit in. Nothing is more douchey than freshly shaven legs and a pair of clogs. It says, “I’d rather be in the Riviera than be within 50-feet of your garlic breath.”
This family day weekend took me by surprise. I didn’t make any grand plans, in fact, I barely acknowledged that it was even a long weekend. I was planning on waking up early Monday morning, getting all my writing done on Sunday. You know, the usual bill for us Eurotrash girls. Until Sunday night – I got a text with an invite to go out on the town. That’s when I realized that I had been partying since Friday. Drinking an average of 5 coronas/night. I did the Raptor’s game, Lakeview Diner, two homemade pizza and wine nights, 7 episodes of Boardwalk Empire, got my hair done, did a Bagel run, danced til 3am, waited in line, did shots. This is not the usual bill for Eurotrash. So on that faithful Sunday evening, I said yes – why the heck not? At least it gave me an excuse to take a quick snap for Wednesday’s outfit post. This was my outfit yesterday. I wore a royalist of blues, wool bustier designed by Caitlin Power. Fashion blogging and such aside, she is a personal favourite. Her clothes appeal to my penchant for architectural structure with a hard femininity. The peplum bustier from her 2010 collection anticipates the peplum propagation on runways all over the world this season. Visionary, driven and a joy to talk to I’ll be featuring an entire write-up on the designer first thing next week including what she said to me just minutes after her show at LGFW and photos of the breathtaking collection.
I mean, her said collection was inspired by Blade Runner – how can you not love her?
