The November Candle. Well, that’s the literal translation of her name. Married to Italian architect, Fabio Novembre, Candela is a self-proclaimed vintage lover, part-time model and full-time mom. She is one of Grazia Italia’s ‘It Girls‘ and as of today, inducted into my Eurotrash People blog of fame.
This darling infiltrated my Instagram one Sunday morning on my usual Sunday morning Instagram hunt (like an Easter egg hunt, yes, only the stakes are higher), while my boyfriend sleeps beside me, none the wiser. Sometimes I let out a whispered cry of joy when I find a gem like Giorgia, voraciously liking all her pics and leaving comments like, “Omg, stunning,” which is what I left on this one photograph of her in a full-length fur coat in the middle of Manhattan, wearing nerdy glasses. Could it be I’m falling in love? Read the rest of this entry »
Call me biased but couples who fashion together, stay together. These two lovebirds have been popping up at Fashion Weeks around the world as a dynamic duo. Veronika is a senior fashion editor at the online luxury boutique, My Theresa, where Justin O’Shea is a buying director. I really do wonder what their hook-up story is. Was it late night working on a Must-Have Fall Sweaters campaign? Or perhaps he brought her a nonfat latte to cheer her up after hearing Nicolas Ghesquière was leaving Balenciaga, which would mean they probably made a baby last week when the designer was rumoured a potential successor to Marc Jacobs as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. Who can ever get enough of ADR? Here she is yesterday in Paris just doing her thing. Incidentally, she must’ve got the Tehran Times memo about covering up and swathing in patterned scarves. I love her kaleidoscopic fusion of florals and geometrics, colours and black and white.
Or should I say, Caroline Sieber von Westenholz? Her recent wedding was featured in the September 2013 issue of Vogue as The Wedding of the Year – look out, Klout score! She is formally referred to as a Chanel brand ambassador and Karl, himself, made her wedding dress. Of course, Laetitia Crahay had a hand at the veil and so on and so forth. Privilege at its apogee. Seriously, I’ve been following her on instagram for a few months now and it’s all St. Tropez to me.
She lives in a castle and dresses as though she had every runway collection at her fingertips. All her clothes look brand new, too. Poppin’ tags. (Never mind tags I swear she drinks champagne for breakfast). Her life is most assuredly a charmed one. Picking street style proved difficult, however, because Caroline sometimes looks too affected, as though the clothes were laid out for her the night before by a Chanel-bot. I tried to select the few outfits that have a bit more movement to them. Something common folk might aspire to, if not dare to imitate whilst feeling ballsy one afternoon in a couture daydream. I think if you stand too close to Anna dello Russo you begin to morph into her not-so-quite replica. Such has been the fate of her assistant, Carlotta Oddi. Not quite Anna, but still quite Eurotrash.
Excuse me while I make myself an espresso before I continue this post. Read the rest of this entry »
I don’t know who this girl is but this is perhaps one of the most Eurotrash photos I’ve seen in a long time. She reminds me of my Florentine muse, the girl who kickstarted my lifelong commitment to defining what exactly it means to be Eurotrash, and embodying that definition. Making a place for this aesthetic way of life in the fashion canon hasn’t been easy, but it’s photographs like this that remind me I’m neither alone nor misguided. Vive la Eurotrash!
You’ll need: a piazza, a tan, high heels, ripped jean shorts, something vintage, something gold, faceshields (sunglasses) and an accent.
Amsterdam. Paris. Ibiza. That’s her circuit. She showed up on my instagram after gushing over TRIANGL bikinis (even though, admittedly, it’s not a bikini summer for me). She’s also a bit of a zingara – which is praiseworthy in my books. Now I’m hooked on Lizzy and thankfully, she has a blog to keep me satiated. Daily dose of long hair and short skirts and Chanel boy bags. How many does she own? Who knows! I lost count once she started introducing them two-by-two with her sister, the Prince Harry of the duo. Give me a girl on the Amalfi coast with a kaftan and leather sandals, sunshine, and we’re back at Eurotrash’s birth. How many summers I spent in colourful bikinis and handmade sandals in the Medi (mediterranean) – yachts, boys and Dolce & Gabbana. Well, Columbine Smille, Swedish fashion editor of StyleBy magazine and freelance stylist had me at Praiano (arguably the most beautiful place on earth). Her high cheekbones and long legs double-take Kate Moss but she’s really quite more inventive. Sky blue chucks, plaid undertones and a dash of skin. Her street style is a breath of fresh air as she wiggles her way between glam and trash, minimal and excess. I’m taking cues from her for Fall, especially the knit sweater dress showing fresh fresh legs all the way to the top and mirrored sunnies. Work. It. Girl. Read the rest of this entry »
