When 1960s mod meets Mad Men, throw a bit of Hitchcock in there for good measure, and you have the Pink Tartan Spring 14 collection. But, I’m not here to tell you what I saw – I’m here to tell you what I liked. And these flowers just did me in! The brand’s designer, Kim Newport-Mimran, is brilliant at appropriation. She is able to take past trends, cultural references and even current influences and make them look anew. Here we have an abstracted Prada-esque floral print on classic pieces such as the flared and pencil skirts. The neon florals set on black reminds me of this old game I used to play as a child called Lite-Brite, and I mean that association in the best of ways. Read the rest of this entry »
What better day to post these scholarly photographs than the first day back to school? Summer may be coming to an end but there’s a promise of better outfit days in the Autumn – a crisp blazer never harmed nobody. My outfit here is sophisticated prep school meets transgressive student – fashionably – out of uniform; a look I am all too familiar with. I was forever altering my high school uniform to add some chic to my everyday as a 17 year old. So I admit, in this photo I was super super hungover after an unexpected night out on the town. After 4 glasses of O.J., 3 advils and a cup of coffee, I made it to Mother’s Day brunch. Here’s what I wore: vintage blue silk top from Shoppalu; Zara floral pants; GEOX ballet flats; tweed blazer from Club Monaco circa 2003; and my Rebecca Minkoff 5-zip M.A.C. Ta-Da!
Here are some more photos from our lovely day spent in Yorkville. We had brunch at La Societe and it was delicious, as per usual. FYI every Thursday oysters are $1 at the bar starting at 5pm til close – it’s worth checking out!
Incidentally, today is my mom’s birthday. Wishing her a great one. Love you, mom! xo
