Ever since Power sent her models strutting down the runway in those now-famous grey sweatpants, it became clear that Jules is a Toronto girl. Let’s face it. As sad as it is, you’d be hard-pressed to find that girl in stilettos and haute couture walking the streets of Hogtown (Bloor street doesn’t count), the way you would in other fashionable cities. But really, it’s all good in the hood. Now that we have designers like Jules Power, whose clothing line seems to be tailored to Toronto (fancy sweats, muted colours, knits, peek-a-boo nets, flashes of floral) we can stop pretending to be something we’re not and embrace the laid-back style we see on the streets. I mean, as much as I’d like to stroll down Queen West in studded Louboutins and a tight Versace number, I’d probably look ten times cooler in Jules Power.
